It's been a little while since I've managed to write a post, but now I'm all ready for some updates!
Last weekend I packed up my suitcase and jetted off to the beautiful place that is Cape Town, South Africa for my medical elective. This might technically be another medical placement, but it's certainly not like any other one I've done before!
If you discount the mid-flight turbulence, I had a pretty smooth journey from home to my Cape Town hospital accommodation, even managing to get some sleep on the flight. Which turned out to be a pretty good thing, because within a few hours of arriving on Sunday morning, I found myself climbing a mountain...

The Lion's Head is a peak just off to the side of Table Mountain and offers amazing views out over the city and coastline which are more than worth the climb.
The 'climb' itself isn't too difficult - much of it is simply walking up a path, with some steeper bits towards the top that require only a little more effort to climb up.

It was the perfect way to refresh after sitting still on a long haul flight, as well as to remind myself of just how amazing this city is.
